As a REALTOR® I know you would love to rank #1 on the search engines when someone searches for “Homes For Sale in..<your city>.” If you do this search yourself, you probably aren’t surprised to find Trulia, Zillow and Realtor.com are typically at the top of the list.
These site rank so well because they have well paid computer geeks that know how to get the search engines find the specific terms on their sites. Plus, these specific terms show up hundreds or thousands of time on these sites. For example I searched “Homes for sale in Goodland KS” and Realtor.com was at the top of the list.

and now take a look towards the bottom;
WOW! That is a lot of keywords, and that is not counting each time the words “Goodland, Kansas” shows up on the 10 properties displayed on the page! This is called keyword stuffing, and it works if it’s done correctly. Realtor.com, Trulia and Zillow have figured out the science behind adding just the right amount of keywords in a logical way to outsmart the search engines and rank at the top!
How does your website currently rank for the keywords you think people use to find your services in your area? If you have access to make a few changes to your homepage, add a few more keywords in a logical manner and you too can inch your way to the top!
Later this week we will look at a few other ways to reach the top!
